Stop bank impersonation scams

Fraudsters create urgency, spoof caller IDs and ask you to “secure” money or approve actions that actually benefit the attacker.

Warning signs

  • The caller asks you to move money to a safe or technical account.
  • You are asked for a one-time code, card PIN or full online-banking credentials.
  • The caller tells you not to contact the bank through normal channels.
  • The displayed caller ID is used as proof that the call is genuine.

What to do

  1. End the call and contact the bank using the number in the official app, card or website.
  2. Never move money to a “safe account” because of an incoming call.
  3. If you approved something, contact the bank immediately and describe exactly what was authorised.
Test yourself
